Vincent van Gogh Self Portrait as Painter Socks

Van Gogh's dozens of self-portraits were an important part of his painterly output. Most likely, Van Gogh's self-portraits depict the face as it appeared in the mirror he used to reproduce his face, i.e. his right side in the painting is actually the left side of his face. This self-portrait was painted between 1887 and 1888.
