Vincent van Gogh Wheatfields with Cypresses Socks
Wheat field with cypresses was painted in July 1890. It has been cited by several critics as one of Van Gogh's greatest works. It is commonly claimed that this was his last painting. However, art historians are not sure which painting was actually Van Gogh's last. It is one of three similar oil paintings, all of which were exhibited at the Saint-Rémy psychiatric hospital where Van Gogh was a voluntary patient. The works were inspired by the view of the Alpilles from the window of the asylum.
