Debby Park - Earrings

Debbie's earrings are stainless steel and form a disk shaped dome.

The silver for these earrings is processed and heated such that the interior of the metal flows before the surface does, resulting in a texture of wrinkles and ridges.  Next a pattern of 24K gold is applied to the silver using keum-boo, a Korean gilding technique. Finally, the earrings are exposed to liver-of-sulfur and the silver reacts to produces a somewhat unpredictable combination of gold, blue, green, red, purple, brown, grey and black.
